Hedgedoctor: Repairing a landslide

In 2005, a landslide in Portessie demolished the folk's garage.
Our job was to bind the land back together with willows and any
plants that might grow on this unpromising site.
We made bundles of long thin prunings, and 'nailed' them on to
the cliff, using willow pegs that will take root. Then we pushed
any plant that might survive, into the bundles of sticks. The
bundles have caught the thin mud that was running down the face,
and quite a lot of them are still doing ok.

We're pleased how well it's grown back! There's no bare earth showing.
